Villa Gran Burrone is your private medieval retreat in untouched northern Tuscany. Wake up to valley views, far from the crowds, yet close to everything.
This beautifully restored villa, dating to the 11th century, sits in a peaceful hamlet in the Apuan Alps and comes with a large swimming pool and garden.
Great for those seeking an authentic, less-touristy side of Tuscany.
And this isn't just a vacation house. It's our home we share with you (while we're away).
We hope you love it as much as we do.

The Pool You'll Never Want to Leave
Your private infinity pool perches on the hillside with sweeping views over the Serchio Valley. Completely secluded—no neighbors, no eyes, just you and the mountains. It's the kind of spot where breakfast turns into lunch without you noticing.
A Medieval Shell, Modern Soul
We restored the villa in 2010 and just refreshed it in 2025: new furniture, vintage Murano glass chandeliers catching the Tuscan light, and a sculptural Molo Cloud Pendant lamp we couldn't resist importing from Canada. Old stone walls meet new comfort.
Room to Breathe
Three ensuite bedrooms sleep six comfortably. The kitchen has Carrara marble counters and SMEG appliances (plus an ice machine, because cold Aperol Spritz). There's a panoramic terrace, an opulent garden, and two hectares of private olive grove when you need to wander and think about nothing.
The grand medieval hall has a 100-inch screen and fireplace for cozy nights. Fast Wi-Fi throughout if you need to work—or post jealousy-inducing photos. Air conditioning in the hall and work area keeps you cool while the stone walls do their ancient magic.
Nothing Feels Rushed
25–30 min to Lucca's walls or Garfagnana trails
1 hour to Pisa, Florence, or sandy beaches
Minutes by car to the Devil's Bridge (built around 1080—older than most countries)
You're also sitting on two legendary pilgrimage routes: the Via Matildica del Volto Santo (Mantua to Lucca) and the Via Francigena (Canterbury to Rome). Centuries of travelers passed right through here seeking something transcendent. Looks like you're following a good tradition.
Eat Like You Live Here
Borgo a Mozzano is 3 km away with two standouts: Osteria i Macelli and Il Pescatore (home to what we genuinely believe is the world's best panna cotta). Both obsess over local ingredients and make you feel like a regular by dessert.
For groceries: Penny supermarket handles basics; Esselunga (15 min) has premium meats, fish, wine, and the good olive oil.
